Xavier Nicolàs Cintas, Mitglied der Internationalen Siegfried Wagner Gesellschaft, hat gemeinsam mit Jordi Nin in Zusammenarbeit mit der Associació Wagneriana de Barcelona und der Asociación Wagneriana de Espana eine DVD mit dem Titel Siegfried Wagner – The Last Romantic vorgelegt. In 60 Minuten Spieldauer – wie das schmale Beiheft in fünf Sprachen, mit Untertiteln in Spanisch, Deutsch, Englisch, Französisch und Japanisch – werden Leben und Werke Siegfried Wagners anhand von Bild- und Tonbeispielen dokumentiert.
Ziel und Zweck dieser Unternehmung werden im Klappentext erläutert:
It is very hard to provide an introduction to an operatic composer bearing the last name of ›Wagner‹ but not the first name of ›Richard‹. That is the challenge facing us at this very moment: introducing, not Richard, but Siegfried, Wagner. Siegfried Wagner was a prolific composer with 16 operas to his credit, in addition to various concerts, symphonic poems, and Lieder … The only thing he ever did ›wrong‹ – if it can be called that – was being the son of Richard Wagner, as well as the nephew [sic!] of Franz Liszt.
We wish to present excerpts of each of Siegfried’s 16 operas, in chronolgical order, accompanied, each, in turn, by almost unknown documentary material: libretti, photographs and illustrations. The principal objective of this short introduction, as well as this presentation as a whole, is to place Siegfried Wagner – the last Romantic – in the position which he deserves within the History of Music.
